Congratulations to Dr. Thiago Lobato for successfully defending his #doctoral #thesis on “Improving sound source localization and characterization with #machinelearning techniques”! His thesis proposes innovative ways to localize and characterize sound sources more effectively by combining machine-learning techniques with analytical methods. This hybrid approach allowed the developed methods to show a great generalization and worked well in diverse practical scenarios. Effectively, Thiago’s work extends the possible user cases and accuracy of beamforming and sound source characterization with inverse methods.
